Nene Polo

Seamstress, based in Toulouse.

Lorena is originally from Toluca, a city located about 100 kilometers from Mexico City, nestled against a 4,700-meter volcano. A region with a large indigenous population.

She studied applied arts with a specialty in product design. She worked freelance for a few years, then upon arriving in France, she became a mother and chose to take care of her daughter. It was during this time that she imagined, thought about and designed this new professional project, in order to create her own brand of children's textiles.

Our co-creations: GABRIELLE baby blanket , LUCE bath towel & PEARL bib

Becoming a mother inspired her greatly and made her want to have the best products for herself and her daughter, made from beautiful, environmentally friendly materials. It was during this time that she also saw the need to pass on her culture.

“The desire to create and draw came back to me little by little.”

She decided to launch her brand in April 2020. Through her brand, she breathes new life into her traditions.

All his creations are inspired...

by nature with natural fibers, she likes warm tones with connotations to Mexico.
"We never love our country as much as when we are far away from it!" She is driven by this desire to feel her culture through her creations to transmit and get closer to this country which is dear to her.

Lorena immediately identified with the values embodied by Maison Marah: "the concept, the collaboration, the slow life movement, their passion for decoration, giving life back to everyday objects through creators and artisans..."

A little technique…

For Lorena,

Starting a project begins with practicality, then the material and finally the design of the object.
She likes to think of her items as “soft, strong and beautiful,” while still being truly decorative objects.

She first selects the fabrics based on their origin and material, then experiments with embroidery, drawing inspiration from Mexican legends. Then, she takes care of the more technical part: pattern making, cutting, and sewing.
