MIRA HOUSE

Ceramicist, based in Toulouse.

Originally from Dordogne, Clara has lived in Toulouse for 7 years now.

It was in the heart of the pink city that she opened her workshop in February 2022.

Our co-creations: TERRA jar , AVA round bowl , ABRIL citrus press .

Clara has always loved working with materials and especially working with her hands.
Fascinated by beauty, she oscillates between the worlds of plastic arts, applied arts and crafts.
Having graduated with a master's degree in “Artistic Creation” in 2020, Clara also took ceramics classes in a Toulouse workshop and has been hooked on ceramics ever since...

She is inspired by...

different textures, mineral materials, raw shapes but also clean lines that she loves very much.
She loves natural colors, whites, beiges, browns and especially greens found in forests.

A little technique…

From idea to creation.

To start an object creation project, Clara always begins with a very quick little sketch.

After weighing a ball of clay, she kneads it to eliminate any air bubbles and to thoroughly homogenize the clay. Then she throws the ball onto her wheel and begins shaping it...
The pieces are then removed from the lathe and stored (from a few hours to a few days, depending on the season) until they have the consistency of leather. Then comes the turning stage, his favorite. This is when the piece can be refined, a foot created, or a handle added.
The piece is then fired a first time, this is the so-called biscuit or dégourdi firing, at a temperature that will leave the piece slightly porous so that the enamel adheres properly. Once cooled, the pieces are enameled then returned to the kiln for a second and final firing at high temperature.
