Having graduated from the CAP in ceramic throwing in 2021, she opened Maison Argile in January 2022 in Toulouse, where she produces and teaches throwing courses. and modeling. She likes to reveal raw materials, in their most natural state. She thinks of the timeless object and also designs her moving ceramics in the space of those who adopt them.
Sensitive to emotions...
Julie finds inspiration in natural elements and art in general. She loves minimalism and the raw aspect of objects, revealing them in their purest form. It is said that every potter has their favorite clay: hers is reddish, grainy, reminiscent of the sand and warmth of ochre earth in Provence. She works it raw, simply glazed from the inside out for easy everyday use.
She likes to imagine that an object can blend into several spaces; it is by marrying the universes that the object takes on its personality.
Julie,
thinks about the object for its function, so that it is as durable as possible over time. Simple and minimalist so that it blends into any universe, with a dual function if possible. This avoids monotony and allows the object to be brought to life through its multiple facets. She then puts it on paper and then creates a prototype, sometimes in miniature, sometimes in real size directly.
The potter must work with the 4 elements: the earth, an essential component of objects; the management of water and air for the consistency of the earth; the fire to make the ceramic object. In detail, it is a question of dosing the right weight, kneading the earth, shaping it while throwing, waiting for the right consistency to throw the piece, firing it,
unbake, glaze, bake, unbake, observe. The main stages of manufacturing are in reality multiple and mainly combine
to patience.
We tend to underestimate the work of the artisan because there is a lot of handling of the object before it becomes ceramic. There is also
always a loss due to the fragility of the earth, which requires great delicacy.
